SEORTM

"Bat Wing"

SEORTM is the acronym for SHOP Equipment Organizational Truck Mounted. This shelter with sturdy metal shelves, closets, and numerous drawers has great commercial service potential.. The perfect conversion would be to a Construction Utility Van or Hunting Van, as it already is perfect for either mode. The outside top is solid thick steel plated suited for additional modifications. The circuit box pan panel for electricity has only 104 hours logged, and the entire shelter is prewired and configured for ample lighting. Note: it has an outside panel for external power input from an external generator or commercial power -- sufficient electrical circuit diagrams are clearly visible on metal-tin plates attached inside. The internal condition of the shelter is excellent without bored-soldiers graffitti. It incorporates a drop-down writing table with a white acrylic top; there no pencil or any marks on it, which is a clear indication of "little use". It has over 35 metal drawers, and is only missing one drawer.All powered by a generator driven by a shaft from the M944 PTO. It has the Power Take Off (PTO) in tact, as well with the generator and a unused powerful kerosene heater. I have a portion of the important operational instructions for Kerosine Operation Manual on hand -- too large to download, but it is available on line.
This shop shelter is not on mounted on a truck; it is currently on a large dual wheel boat trailer, which I used to transport it a short distance. It's important to note that the PTO extrudes or extends about two feet out from the bottom, that this boat chassis was perfect to accomodate.(see picture of PTO). I've been looking for a small horizontal pully engine to mount on the back that could be easily converted with turn shafts readily available at TRACTOR Supply.
The orginal transport configuration was with the the M-944 Truck, Chassis, 5-ton, 6x6 which is part of the M-939 Series of 5 ton 6x6 trucks. Details of the history, model numbers, and configurations of the M939-series of trucks are on the internet that you can google easily. Variants M-944, M-944A1 and M-944A2 were produced.
One of the missions of the M944 truck chassis was to carry a shop shelter with nomenclature "SEORTM" and referred to as "Bat Wing" because of its appearance when the side panels are opened as pictured here. SEORTM is a self-contained machine shop, with lathes, drill presses, welders, valve grinding machine, milling machine, and other metal working tools, all powered by a generator driven by a shaft from the M944 PTO. SEORTM with the NSN 4940-01-236-0166 that can be researched. the hydrolics for the side wings are in tact and work, as the pictures shows the sides open that I used with both hydrolics.
